as it happens
Spring 2024
Spring can be colorful time of year and this one was no exception. Normally I do this post from where I'm located, but this time it was done on the Isle of Man, where I was born many years ago. After Morocco a visit to London was made to do some stuff and I thought it would be nice to visit the Isle of Man one last time.
Getting to the island was not easy. The only direct flight from where I was staying flew from Gatwick Airport on Easyjet and I detest budget airlines. No matter how I tried to book online their website refused, forcing me to phone them, only to be charged a lot more, so I sought another way. A local travel agent named Liz did everything for me including boarding passes. All I needed to do was show up at the airport, go through security and get on the plane. I was a bit surprised that I had plenty of leg room and though the plane made funny noises for a while while heading for the runway, the flight was okay.
The last time I was on the Isle of Man (IOM) was to spread the ashes of my father after he died, some decades ago. It took a while and I ended up staying at Premier Inn hotel in Douglas a lot cheaper than doing it through AirBnB, it was okay though the mattress was hard and my spine didn't like it that much but I managed.

The main thing on my agenda was to photograph some Wallabees, they're supposed to be running all over the island. Asking people saw me going to a wildlife park up north near Ramsey. What greeted me there was a zoo, had I known I would not have wasted my time, though I did photograph a few of the creatures there. The place seemed half empty and I considered the money charged to enter the place could have been better spent on something else. The Wallabees had escaped years ago and none were seen while on the island.
I flew out the 25th of April and returned to London.

Trees are beginning to leaf out.
