Laptop frustration

Show file extensions in Windows 11 Home. I did not have any file extensions showing and needed to. So I did a web search and there were several sites saying the way to do that, they were all exactly the same and none of what they said worked.

So I did local search, and guess what?

Windows 11 Start menu

It worked!

On the extreme left of the task bar, click the Start Icon. In the Search at the top I typed in show file extensions. Windows 11 added in file explorer to show this: "show file extensions in file explorer", I hit the Return Key. Below was the Show file extensions, which I turned on.

It took me 5 seconds!

There are other things you can turn on or off on the page.

Then there's the operating system

When I bought my Lenovo Thinkpad X13, it came with Windows 11 Home (W11). I was able to install all my software and even though W11 is not all that good, it works, well sort of anyways. I wondered if Windows 7 Pro could be installed and a local computer guy tried but failed. Instead of restoring what was on it originally, he wiped everything and put W11 Pro on and disappeared. Some of my progams would not install and I was stuck but found someone else, in another town not far away, who put W11 Home on and now I'm okay software wise. For Email I just use my server, because I get very few emails anyways.

At least it's tough

The Lenovo X13 is military spec, has worked for me in 120 degree heat and is light, under 4 lbs with my charger, cord and mouse. I don't have to worry about some special padded bag and with it my loaded backpack is under 10lbs, which is better on my bad spine.

Living with it...
