Spring 2025
With time on my hands, I began to look at Spring in a different way when I saw a mother with her two week old baby. How much like that mother and her child is Spring. First the seed is sown into the womb of the Earth. It grows and up sprouts a shoot from the ground. Over time more shoots appear and tiny little parts of the growth burst forth.
Flowers to brighten up the view and leaves turn the bare branches into the similarity of flesh. At first a baby simply feeds on it's mother's milk, totally dependant on it. Then a smile appears and the eyes look up with love to the mother. Other people see the little one much as we notice the flowers, leaves, grass and other plants reaching for the sky. Some trees begin with flowers then tiny leaves growing to full size, similar to the child needing larger clothes, until the fullness of Spring takes hold preparing us for summer.
Then, of course, there are the little offspring of the wildlife. Like the Goslings above they begin to enjoy some things to eat and dislike others. The baby grows and learns to walk as the trees slowly display their fruit, nuts or seeds for more trees next year. We revel in the beauty of it all and the fulfillment of summer.
A short trip to grab the above shot completed the post. Well sort of, I thought it would be interesting to see just how much I could carry now with my Berghaus backpack so loaded it up as though I was back OTR. It weighed 9.5 lbs (4.31 Kilos). It's so much lighter and realized again how much I do not actually need inbetween major locations.
