Beriain old town
Not far from where I stayed for June in Pamplona, the number 16 bus stops. Eight years ago I visited a friend in the town of Beriain, so thought it a good idea to go back there. He lived in the old part of the town and the bus went to it (not all of them do). It was early on a Saturday morning, with a chilly North wind but not too bad in the sun.

The wide path continues around the lake, but a small dirt trail appeared on the right and I took that instead. After about 15 minutes I reversed and went back to the main way. A couple of guys were fishing and two others were have a conversation. All these folk are local to Beriain and I carried on until the route finished on a road the other side of the lake from where I began.
Having ended up in the new part of the town, a bus stop was needed for the return to Pamplona. Finding it saw a man sitting there who told me it would be 25 minutes until the bus arrived, so a little wander took place. A short distance away was a car repair place with an exquisite restoration of a VW Beetle. It was blue and belonged to the repair shop owner. Another guy was there who spoke English and told me that he built windmills in various places across the United States. The bus finally came and I went back to where I was staying.

Heading down the road out of town took me to a path which leads to a large park with a lake.

Worth the trip there.
